The Lovecraftian creature"Yog Sothoth" for the indie feature THE HALFWAY HOUSE was an elaborate puppet we designed in-house. Its head was over 6' across with tentacles 14' long. It required as many as 6 operators and was capable of picking up and actor in its jaws.
WWE wrestling star Brock Lesnar slams a 12' great white shark we built to withstand his type of punishment along with the corrosive ocean water in a commercial spoof of JAWS.
For Carol's Special Teas of Lompoc, CA, we devised fiberglass "appliances" to transform a MiniCooper into a teapot. The pieces were designed to come on and off without damaging the vehicle and were painted with matching auto body paint.
This enormous shoe was made for an interactive exhibit at the Los Angeles County Museum of Natural History.
We assisted MMI on the special effects for the feature film BLOODSURF by fabricating the front half of a 30-foot crocodile. The mechanized creature was capable of holding an actor safely in its jaws.
VIEW QUICKTIME MOVIE
We used a silicone skin over cable-operated mechanics to create a flirtatious, car-driving frog for a Spanish-language TOYOTA commercial. He had to be realistic enough to intercut with a real bullfrog.
These are just two of eight African animal puppets built for a production number in ONE, THE SHOW at the Alabama Theatre in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Finished to look like carved wood, these lightweight foam fabrications could be extended to a height of 12 feet.
The 12-foot octopus from Tim Burton’s ED WOOD, shown here with Martin Landau in the role of Bela Lugosi. The director liked the prop so much, he kept it in his home after the production.
"DJ Germ," designed and created for the Fox Kids show MORNING SCRAMBLE, was a puppet that could be manipulated by one or two performers.
This is one of a trio of rod puppets we made for a theme park ghost illusion. They were videotaped individually in front of a black backdrop and digitally composited for projection onto scrims. Ride & Show, Inc. of San Dimas, CA is incorporating them into the "Pirates of El Dorado" at Ocean Park in Taiwan.
This 10’ hot dog was one of several oversized props made for Movie Week on WHEEL OF FORTUNE.
More recently, WHEEL OF FORTUNE had us build a pair of 4' football helmets for their NFL shows and massive stacks of casino chips for a stay in Vegas.
These life-size figures included props and costuming to promote TOTAL ANNIHILATION: KINGDOMS (L) and AMEN (R), two games from Cavedog Entertainment.
MAD TV's prop department often calls on us for custom "impact props" - items that must hit or fall on an actor without harming him. We have foam fabricated various items ranging from computers to safes to the stage light pictured here.
"Tiffany" and "Dixie," vinyl-skinned hand and rod puppets from the burlesque review BUMP & GRIND.
Two large mechanical puppets for "Monsterquarium," part of Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights.
The 10-foot "flayed Satan" animated head for Clive Barker's Hell, a maze designed by the famous author/director for our third year of Halloween Horror Nights.
This ferocious velociraptor was featured in the "Scarassic Park" maze at the ROCKY POINT HAUNTED HOUSE in Salt Lake City, Utah.
